Seatbelts – 100 Dollars Each!!

We were going to LA with our friends by car from phoenix and around 9 pm in the night we stopped at a rest area for our dinner and started driving towards LA and in half an hour, a Cop’s car stopped us. We were in the speed limit and did not know why they stopped us. The cops checked our seat belts with a torch and asked why our friends did not wear seat belts? They were sitting in the back seat and in phoenix we never had to wear seat belts in the back seats. But according to California rules, seat belt was compulsory for any seats you sit. Our friends got a ticket for over 100 dollars for that.
